Electro for the Gotthard
The electronic music award dedicated to Giovanni Cleis - mastermind of the innovative Ticino electronic music collective "Table" - launches its 5th edition.
To coincide with the start of excavation work on the Lötschberg and Gotthard tunnels, the Table collective was commissioned by Pro Helvetia to contribute to the "Construction sonore - un voyage acoustique sous les Alpes" project, which the group illustrated with the track OhneHalt. In view of the forthcoming opening of the Gotthard base tunnel, this piece will be the main theme of the 2016 Giovanni Cleis Prize.
On the competition page you will find OhneHalt as a free download. Candidates can download it and compose their own original song, sampling or adding text.
Once the composition is complete, candidates should upload it to their Mx3 profile and leave a comment on the competition page, indicating the composition's title. A jury of professionals will evaluate the material until March 19 - the day Giovanni Cleis was born - to select a winner. The prize is 1,500 Swiss francs, and the piece will be featured on Rete Tre radio. The deadline for entries is February 29, 2016.
