Mathieu Jaton, General Manager

Claude Nobs' right-hand man is officially appointed to take over his position.

On January 15, the Montreux Jazz Festival Board of Trustees unanimously appointed Mathieu Jaton to the position of General Manager, with immediate effect.

He joined the festival in 1999, and has been General Secretary since 2001, having assumed operational management of the MJF for several years. Claude Nobs "was about to turn 77 and knew that he could pass away any day now. The succession was a logical step. He put together a young and enthusiastic team", said François Carrard, President of the Foundation.
"The 2013 edition will still be a bit of a Claude Nobs festival, even if Mathieu Jaton has been very much involved," he added. In any case, this year's festival was to take on a new look, with a small, jazzier jazz club.

On February 8, Montreux's Auditorium Stravinski will host a musical tribute to the festival's founder.
