Carine Zuber to head Moods

Carine Zuber has been appointed manager of the Moods jazz club in Zurich.

On the eve of her 40th birthday, Carine Zuber, a well-known jazz specialist on the Swiss cultural scene, succeeds Reto Bühler.The bilingual Biel native, who takes up her new post on May 1, 2013, has a wealth of experience in jazz, the organization of cultural events and the promotion of culture. Since 1999, she has been responsible for programming the Cully Jazz Festival, and three years ago co-founded the Cosmo Jazz Festival in Chamonix (F).

Professionally, since 2010 she has been head of the bilingual office of the cultural commissions of the Canton of Berne, and prior to that administrative director of Théâtre Bienne Soleure. She was also a member of the Pro Helvetia Board of Trustees, chairing the "Music" expert group from 2005 to 2011.

With almost 300 concerts a year, the Moods is a fixture on Zurich's nightlife scene. Housed in the "Schiffbau" industrial building in central Zurich, the jazz club celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2012. Over the years, the club has become an institution that has earned itself a reputation among musicians, and today ranks among the top 150 clubs in the world according to the American magazine DownBeat. Featuring local and international bands, up-and-comers and undisputed stars, the Moods is a sure-fire springboard for Swiss musicians.
