Montreux Jazz plays its cards right

Montreux Jazz unveils its program: 18 days of music from July 4 to 21, in three venues that have taken up the mike to better serve quality and go even further.

The line-up for the 47th edition features a strong return to jazz, with a musical constellation of prestigious artists and rising stars.

And it sounds a bit like this:Leonard Cohen will do it again the day after his Opening Night at the Stravinski, paving the way for Sting, Green Day, Prince, Kraftwerk, Wyclef Jean, George Benson, Chucho Valdés, I AM, Joe Cocker.

Montreux Jazz is also a showcase for up-and-coming young artists: AlunaGeorge, Jake Bugg, Melody's Echo Chamber, Valerie June, Hiatus Kaiyote, Daughter, Hollie Cook, Trixie Whitley and Angel Haze.

The brand-new Club puts Jazz in the spotlight, and above all, close listening, with this year's line-up including Avishai Cohen Quartet, Jonathan Batiste, Charles Bradley, José James, Kat Edmonson, Agnes Obel and Youn Sun Nah.The comebacks of Shuggie Otis and Rodriguez express the power of recognition... even late in the game.

Montreux also celebrates the latest news from: Soulwax, Two Door Cinema Club, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Devendra Banhart, Paul Kalkbrenner, Richie Hawtin, The Lumineers, Of Monsters and Men, Cat Power, Woodkid, Kendrick Lamar, and many more.
