In December, a jury made up of eight personalities from the fields of journalism, music and promotion selected the five candidate bands for the 2015 Swiss Jazz Award.

The following bands are official candidates for the Swiss Jazz Award 2015:
- Beat Baumli & Jürg Morgenthaler Trio for their album First Call
- Charly Antolini for his album Good Time Together
- Piri Piri Gypsy Swing for their second album Métro
- Poffet Trio feat. Thomas Knuchel for the album Poffet Trio
- Raphael Jost "Potenzial" for his debut album Don't Blame Me

The public has until April 12 to vote for one of the five bands on the official event website. The three bands with the most votes will compete for the title of Swiss Band of the Year at the final, to be held on Sunday June 28 as part of the JazzAscona festival. The winner will be decided after the three bands have performed.

The Swiss Jazz Award is the only Swiss jazz award based on public voting. The public's choice in the online vote accounts for 50 % of the final result. The remaining 50 % are made up of the number of public votes collected during the final (25 %) and the jury votes (25 %).
