A cross-generational festival

The Puplinge Classique Festival offers ten eclectic evenings from July 20 to August 24, ranging from Haydn and Mussorgsky to traditional Chinese music.

François-Xavier Poizat, festival founder

In February 2010, Genevan pianist François-Xavier Poizat decided to found a classical music festival to be held in July and August in Puplinge, on the edge of the canton of Geneva. The following July 18 saw the first concert of this adventure, named "Puplinge Classique", featuring François-Xavier Poizat on piano, Nadège Rochat on cello and Damien Bachmann on clarinet.

Originally a "festival organized by young people", today it would be more accurate to call it a "transgenerational festival": both the artists and the audience represent all age groups. However, if there's one thing that has remained young since the beginning, it's the atmosphere of the concerts: jovial, dynamic, enthusiastic. The Festival's philosophy is to give classical music a "facelift" by offering concerts full of surprises.

The Festival's rise to prominence - 4 concerts in 2010, 12 concerts in 2013 recorded by Espace 2 - would not have been possible without its loyal audience, the invaluable collaboration of the authorities, sponsors and headliners such as Philippe Béran, Sergeï Ostrovsky, Louis Schwizgebel, Vahan Mardirossian, Andrey Baranov, as well as the Aviv, Sine Nomine and Terpsycordes Quartets, among others.

Another special feature of the Festival is the diversity of its programming. From July 20 to August 24, 2013, the Festival will feature piano recitals, orchestral concerts, baroque music, original creations and traditional Chinese music.
