After five and a half days of testing, tension and happiness, but also disappointment and joy, three young pianists, accompanied by the OSR, competed with talent on September 12 in front of a packed and visibly captivated audience. The Brazilian candidate of Romanian origin prevailed over the other two finalists. Christian Budu's subtle, expressive playing won over the audience and even the jury, presided over by Martin T:Son Engstroem.

Christian Budu distinguished himself with a performance of Schumann's Piano Concerto in A minor, Op. 54. The Clara Haskil Prize was presented to him personally by Federal Councillor Simonetta Sommaruga.

Christian Budu was taking part in an international competition for the first time.
