A year's work, exceptional technical precautions and a budget estimated at almost five million francs will be needed to restore it to its former glory, without compromising its incomparable sound quality.

The work concerns the structure of the building as well as the technical equipment and audience comfort. They will enable a more varied use of the hall, which will then be able to host entertainment concerts, colloquia and conferences.

Particular care will be taken to restore the woodwork, designed according to lutherie techniques, which is the source of the outstanding acoustics of this hall, which plays host to some of the world's greatest musicians. The most important record companies regularly make recordings here.

Designed in 1951 by architects René Chapallaz and Hans Bieri, the Salle de Musique was placed under protection by the State Council in 2010. Along with the Theatre, it is listed as an object of national interest in the Swiss Inventory of Cultural Property of National Importance.
