Musical encounters

Since 2007, Rencontres Musicales has been welcoming renowned artists to the Théâtre Kléber-Méleau in Renens.

At the heart of the Rencontres Musicales, of course, is pianist Cédric Pescia, but also the director of the Théâtre Kléber-Méleau, Philippe Mentha, who built an acoustic conch shell and wanted music to feel right at home.

For the past nine years, music lovers and theater enthusiasts have been able to applaud talented artists from all over the world who have made Renens their home: Sofia Gubaidulina, Elisabeth Leonskaja, Andreas Staier, Camerata Bern, Ivan Monighetti, Cuarteto Casals, Alexander Melnikov, Teodoro Anzellotti, Rachel Harnisch, among others.

Philippe Mentha, a renowned theater artist, is also a well-informed music lover. In working on his 2015 program, Cédric Pescia turned to the music lover and asked him what he would like to hear during this rather special 2015 edition, the last for Philippe Mentha.

The result will be two concerts by Cédric Pescia on May 27 and 29, an evening dedicated to Mozart with Kristian Bezuidenhout at the pianoforte on May 30, then Caroline Melzer accompanied by Cédric Pescia for a Kurt Weill recital followed by the Pierrot Lunaire performed by Caroline Melzer, Nurit Stark, Constantin Macherel, Helena Macherel, François Benda and Cédric Pescia on May 31.
