Ladies First

Soon to be twenty years old... Founded in 1997 by organist Kei Koito, the Lausanne Bach Festival has long since reached cruising speed, becoming one of Europe's leading Baroque festivals. This year, it continues its partnership with the Opéra de Lausanne.

The theme of this year's festival is "Ladies First". Carte blanche is thus given to the greatest ladies of the Baroque music world, who will perform Bach, Handel, Fischer and Muffat: Overtures, Chaconne, Oratorio, Concertos, Sonatas & Partita, Airs and Cantata Sinfonias.

Performers, conductors, soloists and ensembles include: Michi Gaigg and the Orfeo Barockorchester; Céline Frisch with Café Zimmermann; Monica Huggett with the Irish Baroque Orchestra and the Resurgam Choir; Christine Busch in recital; Nathalie Stutzmann and her ensemble Orfeo 55; Sébastien Vonlanthen and the Collegium Musicum de Lausanne.

Between October 25 and November 28, the 2015 Lausanne Bach Festival will feature six prestigious concerts, a conference in partnership with the BCU de Lausanne on female singers on stage since the birth of opera, three "Bach Days" in partnership with the Haute Ecole de Musique et Conservatoire de Lausanne, the 5th Grand Prix Bach de Lausanne/Concours International d'orgue and its public final (three finalists) with the Collegium Musicum de Lausanne at the Casino de Montbenon.
