Swiss Music Prize 2017
The Federal Office of Culture has named 15 winners of the 2017 Swiss Music Prize, from a wide range of musical fields. The Grand Prix Suisse de Musique will be awarded on September 22 at the prize-giving ceremony at the Kaserne in Basel.
The winners of the 2017 Swiss Music Prize are: Pascal Auberson (Lausanne), Andres Bosshard (Zurich), Albin Brun (Lucerne), Christophe Calpini (Longirod), Elina Duni (Zurich), Vera Kappeler (Haldenstein), Jürg Kienberger (Winterthur & St. Louis), Patricia Kopatchinskaja (Bern), Grégoire Maret (New York), Jojo Mayer (New York), Peter Scherer (New York), Elina Duni (Zurich).Louis), Patricia Kopatchinskaja (Bern), Grégoire Maret (New York), Jojo Mayer (New York), Peter Scherer (Zurich), Endo Anaconda (Fankhaus-Trub), Töbi Tobler (Wittenbach), Helena Winkelman (Basel), Jürg Wyttenbach (Basel).
The aim of the Swiss Music Prize is to reward and highlight outstanding and innovative Swiss musical creation. From jazz to contemporary music, song, classical music, film music, popular music and improvised music, the Swiss Music Prize 2017 is a testament to Swiss musical diversity and excellence.
Swiss Music Prize award ceremony
The Swiss Music Prize award ceremony will take place on September 22, 2017 at Basel's Kaserne as part of the Zeiträume festival of contemporary music and architecture. The Zeiträume festival will provide artistic direction for the evening. SRG SSR, partner of the Swiss Music Prize, will broadcast the ceremony live on the websites of all national channels.
Immersion at the Swiss Cultural Center in Paris
The Swiss Cultural Center in Paris is joining in this year's launch of the Swiss Music Prize. To mark the occasion, a virtual reality film has been created, taking viewers on a journey through the Swiss Music Prize. The film features previous winners Heinz Holliger, Joke Lanz, OY, Nadja Räss & Markus Flückiger, Andreas Schaerer & Lucas Niggli, Franz Treichler, Colin Vallon Trio and Cathy van Eck.
