A winning duo

The Jury of the 3rd edition of the Gustav Mahler Competition unanimously elected the vocal-piano duo composed of Lydia Späti, mezzo-soprano, and Noémie Flèche, piano, from the Haute école de musique de Lausanne.

The Jury was impressed by the duo's high artistic quality and ease of performance. Their program featured Lieder by Gustav Mahler, Franz Schubert, Alban Berg and Hugo Wolf.

In 2014, on the occasion of its fifth anniversary, the Société Gustav Mahler de Genève launched the Concours d'interprétation musicale, in collaboration with the Hautes écoles de musique de Genève (HEM) and de Lausanne (HEMU), which aims to promote young talent in French-speaking Switzerland and is held every two years.

This year's jury was made up of Jadwiga Rappé, Polish singer and professor at Warsaw's Chopin University, Pauliina Tukiaine, Finnish pianist and professor at the Salzburg Mozarteum, Todd Camburn, head of the HEMU vocal department, Eric Bauer, representative of the Société Gustav Mahler de Genève, Marcin Habela, head of the vocal department at the HEM and Philippe Dinkel, head of the Music and Performing Arts department at the HES-SO and director of the Haute école de musique de Genève.
