Created in 2017 in memory of Claire and Willy Kattenburg, who were passionate about music all their lives, the Kattenburg Competition aims to promote and support the new generation of singers at the Haute École de Musique Vaud Valais Fribourg (HEMU). From 40 candidates, students or recent graduates of the HEMU, 12 semi-finalists have been selected for the public semi-finals to be held at the BCV Concert Hall on September 27 and 28, 2019. On October 17, 2019 at the Opéra de Lausanne, 5 finalists will compete, accompanied by the HEMU Orchestra, under the direction of American conductor John Fiore. For those unable to attend, the evening will be broadcast live on Espace 2. New this year, listeners and audience alike will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite candidate, and thus participate in the awarding of the Audience Prize.

This prestigious jury will be completed by four pre-HEM students from the Lausanne Conservatory, selected to present the Prix jeune public.
