Marcel Cellier has passed away

Ethnomusicologist Marcel Cellier, made famous by "The Mystery of Bulgarian Voices", has died aged 88.

Vaud musician and ethnomusicologist Marcel Cellier died on Friday December 13 at the age of 88 in hospital on the Vaud Riviera.

He popularized the panpipes of the Romanian Gheorghe Zamfir, whom he accompanied on organ and with whom he made several recordings. The musician from Vaud won a Grammy Award in 1989. He had also made the bewitching voices of Bulgarian women famous in "The Mystery of Bulgarian Voices", the title of a series of radio broadcasts.
