USDAM minimum rates for intermittent/self-employed musicians adjusted for inflation

The extract of tariff orders below contains only a selection of the new tariffs; for a correct calculation, please use the full USDAM tariff orders and/or the tariff calculator (both available at www.smv.ch).

For individual engagements in orchestras that are members of orchester.ch, the orchester.ch-USDAM tariff contract, which has also been adapted to inflation, applies (available at www.smv.ch).

1. Orchestra rates, valid from 1.9.2022

The following provisions, which are binding throughout Switzerland, apply to the remuneration of services provided by orchestra musicians on a case-by-case basis, it being understood that these are minimum rates.

- Maximum rehearsal time: 3 hours: CHF 185.00
- Maximum running time: 3 hours: CHF 215.00
- Raccord : A rehearsal taking place immediately before a performance is counted as long as the total duration of the rehearsal and performance, including a 1/2-hour break entirely devoted to the musician's rest between the rehearsal and performance, does not exceed 3 hours. If this is not the case, such a rehearsal is considered a performance in its own right. CHF 78.00
- Extensions: Rehearsals, with the exception of main and dress rehearsals for stage works and oratorios, should not normally exceed 3 hours. Extensions to performances and rehearsals in accordance with the above exceptions are paid by the quarter-hour or fraction thereof. CHF 23.00
- Stipend: Lead string players, principal wind band soloists, solo timpanists and harps, as well as secondary instruments, provided they are employed alongside the principal instrument, are entitled tò a stipend per performance of CHF 32.00
- Maintenance costs: fixed allowancé for each outdoor engagement : CHF 62.00
- If the absence extends over two main meals or two services, the indemnitý amounts to CHF 93.00
- Sound recording session up to 3 hours: CHF 237.00
- For each additional quarter-hour or fraction thereof : CHF 32.00
- For compensation of primary broadcasting rights, surcharge per minute used : CHF 3.20
- Audiovisual recording sessions of up to 3 hours: CHF 275.00
- For each additional quarter-hour or fraction thereof : CHF 39.00
- For compensation of primary broadcasting rights, surcharge per minute used : CHF 5.30

2. Chamber music/ensemble rates, valid from 1.9.2022

Chamber music performances are performances with fewer than 13 musicians (ensembles of any musical style). Rehearsals are included in the performance fees.

- Maximum performance duration: 2 hours: CHF 741.00
- Repetition of the same program with the same employer/organizer: CHF 529.00
- Extension by quarter-hour or fraction of a quarter-hour : CHF 23.00
