AVS Philharmonie

The AVS Philharmonie is born, and will be christened on Friday April 19, 2024 at 7pm.

The Salle de Musique in La Chaux-de-Fonds was packed for the occasion, and a transfixed audience watched and listened as these grey heads enthusiastically unfolded a sumptuous program of Mozart (symphonie concertante) and Dvorak (8ème symphony). The success was equal to the performance. Even at the interval, the musicians were clearly enjoying themselves, making warm contact with each other and the audience, and showing great professionalism.

They had chosen a young conductor from Ulaanbaatar, Nandingua Bayarbaatar, a graduate of Geneva's Haute Ecole de Musique, to lead them, and her elegance and efficiency won everyone over,

What is the AVS Philharmonie? It's the idea of our colleague, French horn player Bruno Schneider, who then set about making it a reality, bringing together professional musicians who have worked in Switzerland and who receive the AVS pension. They all donate one or two concerts a year to charity (Procap for this first concert). A way of thanking society as a whole for its support of culture. A winning bet!

The next concert is scheduled for December 15 this year in Berne.

All future retirees are welcome to contact Bruno Schneider, brubru@swissonline.ch
