Arosa Kultur is a politically neutral public-interest association which organizes cultural events in Arosa (Graubünden), including the Musik-Kurswochen Arosa (large-scale promotion) and the Arosa Music Academy (promotion of excellence). The association has over 600 members, of whom around two-thirds are locals and one-third vacation guests and other people from Switzerland and abroad with an interest in culture.
The Musik-Kurswochen Arosa were launched in 1986. They are aimed at amateurs, students and professional musicians of all ages. The program includes over a hundred courses for a wide variety of instruments, as well as singing and dancing weeks. The Arosa Music Academy was added in 2011. These are masterclasses designed to help talented young musicians not only master their instruments, but also chamber music.
Arosa Kultur works very closely with the CSMJ on the Musik-Kurswochen Arosa and the Arosa Music Academy, as well as on an initiative to open up an orchestra to young soloists. Participants in the CSMJ receive a substantial discount on the Arosa courses, and in some cases even a scholarship. The initiative enables 2-3 CSMJ prizewinners each year to rehearse with a professional Arosa Kultur orchestra and give several concerts.
