A competition for innovative music schools
For some time now, music schools have not been confining themselves to individual instruction, but have also been developing innovative projects. Their directors and teaching staff are creating structures for new target audiences, improving equality of opportunity and embracing the digital age. Every two years, ASEM rewards such projects in a best practice competition.
Oberer Sempachersee music school application
For the fifth time already, ASEM is launching a competition for music school projects. Several finalists will have the opportunity to present their projects to a large audience at the next Music Education Forum in January 2025. The total prize money is several thousand Swiss francs. Since the introduction of the competition, 36 finalists have already given an insight into the committed and creative work of Swiss music schools. The seven projects below, which have won first prize so far, give an idea of this work.
Instrumentenparcours fürs Smartphone (2022)
Every year, many music schools organize an instrument discovery day on their premises. This gives future students the opportunity to see and test instruments, so they can choose the one that will perhaps become their instrument of choice. The application developed by the Oberer Sempachersee music school is the perfect complement to these instrument discovery days. It can be adapted on a modular basis to the needs of each music school.

Jeki Bern - jedem Kind ein Instrument (2015)

It is carried out in close collaboration with compulsory schools in school districts with problematic social indicators, and consists of groups for singing, instrumental teaching and ensemble playing.
Has your music school also launched a project in the fields of cooperation, integration and inclusion, new forms of teaching/digitization and/or expansion to new target audiences? In this case, simply announce it using the online form or by pdf until April 30, 2024.
