Renaud Capuçon to succeed Pierre Amoyal

For almost two decades, he has been one of the most prominent figures on the violin planet. Renaud Capuçon will succeed Pierre Amoyal as Professor of Violin at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne (HEMU) from the start of the 2014-2015 academic year.

International soloist, passionate chamber musician and author of an impressive discography, Renaud Capuçon felt it was time to take a new step: that of teaching. He has just been chosen through a competitive process to succeed Pierre Amoyal, who will retire from the HEMU at the end of the 2013-2014 academic year: a great opportunity for both the French violinist and the institution.

At his request, Renaud Capuçon will share his post with an artistic assistant: François Sochard, concertmaster of the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne and a musician with deep roots in the region, who will bring with him the guarantee of optimal academic supervision.

Renaud Capuçon also plans to perform regularly on stage with his students, at the head of an ensemble destined for great artistic success.
