Mathieu Fleury was the obvious choice in terms of experience, competence and charisma. Called upon to play a key role within the institution, he will work as the right-hand man to General Director Hervé Klopfenstein. In particular, he will lead the many non-academic processes that punctuate the life of the HEMU and the Conservatoire de Lausanne, notably in terms of quality, development and performance mandates.

With a solid legal background and a barrister's diploma, Mr. Fleury specialized in conflict management and social and cultural management. His career highlights include positions as Director of the Swiss Federation of Journalists and Secretary General of the Fédération romande des consommateurs, as well as a keen interest in jazz, which led him to succeed Alain Berset as President of La Spirale in Fribourg.

In applying for the position of Administrative Director of the Haute École de Musique et Conservatoire de Lausanne, Mathieu Fleury wanted to develop a new professional field: "a multi-site, multi-style and multi-level institution represents an extremely demanding challenge, which I'm looking forward to taking up with the teams currently at work. It's an honor for me to be able to put myself at the service of the talent, or rather talents, present and future", he confides.
