150 horn players on stage in Geneva
The second congress of the Association des cornistes de Suisse romande took place on March 2-3, 2024 at the Geneva Conservatory of Music.
A wonderful event that welcomed 150 students, half of whom were under 16, from over 20 different music schools and three countries: Switzerland, France and Belgium. It gave rise to various conferences and television and radio broadcasts. Reinhold Glière's concerto, performed by Matias Piñeira accompanied by the Geneva Conservatory Orchestra (conductor Gabor Takacs), was a triumph. The 150 registered horn players also attended workshops on hunting horns, alphorns, physiotherapy, masterclasses for young and old, and instrument making. The other concerts, featuring horn players from the region's orchestras, were also very popular, as were two creations by Geneva composers Alexandre Mastrangelo and Christophe Sturzenegger. The final concert brought together over 150 horn players on stage. The horn weekend was orchestrated by an entire team, including Pierre Burnet, horn professor at the Geneva Conservatory of Music.
The 3rd Congress will take place in 2026.
