30 years of rock in Fribourg
To mark its 30th anniversary, the Fri-Son club in Fribourg has published a book retracing its history in photos and text.
We meet enthusiasts ready to do anything to impose a different and innovative culture in a rural no-mans land, discover a rocker bitten by a turtle, metal musicians insulted by Catholic activists, an overweight jazzman with fondue indigestion, among other colourful memories. In this book, the story is told through bilingual text as much as through images. Original posters and period photographs sit alongside testimonials from programmers, musicians and simple spectators. In short, it's a book in the image of its subject: a vast and fascinating cesspool where the little story regularly rubs shoulders with the big one.
To promote the book, Fri-Son used the community funding platform wemakeit.ch. The success exceeded all expectations, as just 3 days after going online, the campaign registered over 100 contributors, for a total amount of over 8,000 francs.
