George Gruntz has died
Basel jazz musician George Gruntz died on Thursday at the age of 80. The man widely regarded as the most influential Swiss jazz musician on the international scene passed away in the bosom of his family, in the Basel region.
He died at home after a long and painful illness, his son Felix Gruntz said on Saturday, confirming a report by German-language radio station SRF. George Gruntz performed again this summer at the Montreux Jazz Festival.
