Traversées: music takes the train
Traversées is a project of musical commissions to be discovered exclusively on board a train between Besançon (F) and La Chaux-de-Fonds.
This proposal by the Intermèdes Géographiques association (Besançon), developed in partnership with the Centre de Culture ABC (La Chaux-de-Fonds), invites contemporary creators to compose unique sound creations for this context, to be enjoyed during this TER journey linking France and Switzerland.
The project has been running since summer 2012. This winter season, until March 20, you can hear works by Winter Family and Kristoff K. Roll. A concert is scheduled for January 22 at the German Temple in La Chaux-de-Fonds.
The 2013 spring season, from March 21 to June 21, will feature eRikm and Abril Padilia, with a concert on May 30 at the Cité des arts in Besançon.
This cross-border project exploits the geographical and temporal dimensions of the space crossed, and the symbolism of this railroad line, its landscapes, its people and above all its border. Listening is not imposed, but proposed via an individual headphone diffusion device, with the music unfolding in a continuous flow, like the landscapes that scroll by according to GPS markers located along the line. The creations are therefore based on both the real and virtual architecture of the route, and are freely accessible on the trains of the network concerned.
