The revival of the 2013 Sion Festival
The Sion Festival gets a new lease of life. New board, new graphic line and new artistic direction. For the 2013 season, the latter is proposing a program built around the theme of "Voice and Violin".
The Festival will be held from August 9 to 21 in the sunshine of the Valais capital, at Ferme Asile. The finale will feature Rachel Harnisch and Maxim Vengerov.
Under the guidance of its new president Chantal Balet and a strengthened board, the Sion Festival has decided to entrust the artistic direction of its 2013 edition to Pavel Vernikov.
The program, by turns accessible, demanding or disconcerting, will welcome Julian Rachlin, Maxim Vengerov, Sergej Krylov, Bo Skovhus, Mojca Erdmann, the mythical voice of actor Roger Moore, as well as the Valaisans Brigitte Fournier, Brigitte Balleys and Rachel Harnisch.
In the heart of the old town, the Jesuit Church, the Théâtre de Valère and Sion Cathedral will host part of the program. Most of the concerts will take place in the converted barn of the Ferme Asile, in the middle of an orchard.
