Eastern Europe in the spotlight for 10th anniversary

For its 10th anniversary, the Cully Classique festival will put Eastern Europe in the spotlight. From June 21 to 30, 2013, the sweetness and boldness of Eastern music will blow over Cully.

Filled with passion, contrasts and nostalgia, the music of Eastern Europe acquired its letters of nobility in the 19th century, and has never abandoned them. The Festival will echo over 200 years of music from eleven time zones: an extraordinary journey through time and space, served up by top-flight artists, from June 21 to 30, 2013 in Cully.

The program for this anniversary edition features composers from Eastern Europe, including Béla Bartók, Dimitri Chostakovitch, Leos Janácek, György Kurtag, Nikolai Medtner, Sergei Prokofiev, Sergei Rachmaninov, Alexandre Scriabine, Igor Strawinsky and Peteris Vasks.

Internationally renowned artists, talented young musicians and leading Swiss artists will be the guests at the 36 concerts scheduled for the 2013 festival. As a preview, we can announce the presence of Russian pianists Grigory Sokolov and Nicolaï Lugansky.

To guarantee its long-term future and support its development, the festival is creating the "Fondation Cully Classique".

The full program for the 10th edition will be unveiled on Tuesday, March 5, 2013.
