The 25th edition will be festive

From July 4 to 13, downtown Fribourg will be hosting the 25th edition of its Jazz Parade.

Dee Dee Bridgewater

The 2013 anniversary edition will see stars such as Ramsey Lewis, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Scott Hamilton, Nina Hagen, the ABBA Tribute All Stars Band, the Jive Aces, DaDa Ante Portas on its main stage.

The festival is also open to French, German, Anglo-Saxon and other contemporary and world music. The festival is a springboard for local, Fribourg and Swiss musicians, who have not only been invited to perform at the Jazz Parade since its inception, sometimes alongside big-name stars, but have subsequently been placed abroad by Jazz Parade organizers at renowned festivals and clubs (notably in Paris, Cuba and New Orleans).

During the festival, the Jazz Parade organizes masterclasses, which attract a growing number of professional and amateur musicians from all over Switzerland every year. This year, two masterclasses will be held, on July 3 and 9 respectively, by folk guitarist Spencer Bohren and jazz saxophonist Scott Hamilton.
