Promoting music criticism

The Federal Office of Culture has chosen the Bad Bonn Kilbi 2013 festival, held from May 23 to 25, to launch "Where the hell is the press?", a pilot program to promote music criticism in the media.

The program is aimed at students and young journalists. During the three days of the festival, Ane Hebeisen (Der Bund) and Yann Zitouni (Radio Paradiso, RTS) worked with and coached six young journalists - three French-speaking and three German-speaking - to write music reviews.

This was a practical training course during the event, with the aim of designing and feeding an Internet platform according to the editorial scheme defined in collaboration with the mentors. Multi-media and dynamic, this platform was updated as the festival progressed.

The aim of this project is to launch a discussion on the state of cultural criticism in the media and the profession of cultural critic. The participants: Eva Hediger (Winterthur), Laurent Küng (Lausanne), Louis Rossier (Fribourg), Andreas Ruf (Olten), Fabienne Schmuki (Zurich) and Pascaline Sordet (Lausanne) have been selected by tender. The pilot project will be evaluated after the first edition, and will probably continue in other forms or in other disciplines.
