Claudio Abbado has passed away
Claudio Abbado died in Bologna at the age of 80. The conductor had notably created the Lucerne Festival Orchestra.

Italian conductor Claudio Abbado died on January 20 in Bologna, northern Italy, his entourage announced. Aged 80, the former director of La Scala in Milan had been ill for some time and had had to cancel several concerts.
Born in Milan, Claudio Abbado was director of La Scala from 1968 to 1986, before being appointed conductor of the London Symphonic Orchestra and then director of the Vienna Opera.
In 2003, he founded the Lucerne Festival Orchestra, a creation that was for him "the realization of a dream". He planned to give six concerts during the 2014 edition.
