Luna Classics

The music, song and dance festival will be moving to Nyon this summer. Now too cramped for space in the town of Saint-Prex, it will take place on the Place du Château from August 19 to 31.

The organizers of the St Prex Classics were looking to move to a town where they could develop their ambitions to the full this summer. The festival of music, song and dance will henceforth be called Luna Classics, after the famous spectacular structure specially developed by EPFL. Not only does it accommodate some 750 spectators for an eclectic program, but it also attracts a curious public, who flock to admire this revolutionary wooden arena, whose geometry is modelled on that of the theater at Epidaurus.

The Municipality of Nyon is delighted to be hosting this major cultural event, which will have a real tourist and economic impact on the town. Luna Classics will complete Nyon's cultural offering with an international classical festival, further consolidating its identity as a festival town.

The Luna infrastructure was nominated in 2013 for the "MILESTONE. Swiss Tourism Prize". Created in 2005 by Hazeline van Swaay-Hoog, the festival began in 2006 with 200 spectators. In 2012, the event moved up a gear with the inauguration of "Luna", an avant-garde stage designed by EPFL, and welcomed over 6,000 people, a number that doubled in 2013. The combination of audacious and innovative programming (combining different classical disciplines, new creations by internationally renowned artists and the most promising young talents), a historic and heritage setting and a spectacular modern infrastructure (Luna), are the three components that make the event original and of the highest quality.
