Le Bois qui chante celebrates the violin

For fourteen years, the "Bois qui chante" team has been welcoming curious young and old to Château-d'Œx and the surrounding area for concerts, workshops, meals and other outings based on discovery and conviviality.

2014 was no exception, with its mix of tried-and-true values - educational forest walks in the footsteps of the resonant woods, the orchestral workshop led by Alexandre Clerc (this year devoted to the Stabat Mater by Pergolesi), the conference at the Chalet de La Planche (hosted on Monday October 13 by Dr. Marc Wahli on the theme of "from medical art to arts medicine"), the "music and gastronomy" evening, the offbeat evening at the Zénith (Friday October 10 with the Zorozora trio) - and new flavors, prepared by Artistic Director Béatrice Villiger, herself a singer and "cook" at the closing concert with her vocal and instrumental sextet Opera Viva for a bouquet of Mozart's most beautiful melodies (Sunday, October 19).

Le Bois qui chante" has always been keen to give the new generation a chance, offering free concerts to young people up to the age of 16, and a privileged stage for local musicians who have made the courageous decision to pursue a musical career. This year, these young hopefuls are Nadège Rochat and Cédric Gyger.

The opening concert, on Saturday October 11, will feature the Orchestre d'harmonie de Fribourg and its director Isabelle Ruf-Weber, who will launch into Friedrich Gulda's unclassifiable Concerto for Cello and Wind Band.

We wouldn't be complete without mentioning our traditional stopover in the world of cinema, for an evening dedicated to the nostalgia of the silent era, with a musical backdrop. live produced by Wieslaw Pipczynski (Wednesday, October 15).

Last but not least, "Bois qui chante" is teasing us with a preview of its Mozart evening with the Opera Viva sextet on Saturday September 6 at 10 a.m. at the Palais de Rumine in Lausanne: an opportunity to meet an audience not necessarily familiar with the event...
