A new venue in Geneva?

A venue for major classical music concerts is currently under study in Geneva. Estimated at 100 million francs, the hall could replace the famous Victoria Hall.

A new concert hall for classical music could be built in Geneva. The city's mayor Sami Kanaan confirms the existence of this major project.

The idea was born 18 months ago on the initiative of lawyer Bruno Mégevand, president of the Société Gustav Mahler de Genève, who rallied his colleague David Lachat, Steve Roger, director of the Caecilia company, and Henk Swinnen, general manager of the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande (OSR).

This new hall could replace the famous Victoria Hall, which is too small and ill-suited to large ensembles. The idea is to build a "true Cité de la Musique" in Geneva, by constructing the buildings required for the Haute école de Musique (HEM) alongside the hall. The project should also be a strong architectural gesture and become a landmark building in Geneva.
