Music in Ticino
The 6th edition of MusicNet took place from January 16 to 18, 2015 in Lugano. As usual, the only music fair in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland devoted three days to music in all its facets.
The event was organized and presented by the "Area del turismo ed eventi della città di Lugano". The organizers announced that 18,000 visitors attended this year's event.
MusicNet traditionally consists of three parts: a music fair, a dance section and evening concerts.
The exhibitors at MusicNet are generally quite varied, ranging from instrument vendors, the most important radio stations in Ticino, music publishers from Italy and Switzerland, local bands looking to make a name for themselves, and companies from other areas of the music business.
In addition to concerts by established musicians from Switzerland and Italy, 33 up-and-coming bands from Ticino took part in the "Palco ai giovani" band competition, a springboard for young musicians from Ticino. The large number and diversity of groups that have taken part in this competition over the last twenty years highlight the richness of musical creation in Ticino.
