Funk is not dead
From September 30 to October 3, 2015, four of Lausanne's top contemporary music venues will play host to the international artists of the Holy Groove Festival. This year, the three-year-old event takes on the challenge of doubling its capacity.
The success of previous years has encouraged the organizers to think big. For the first time, the Thursday evening event will take place in the unmissable Salle des Docks. A capacity that can accommodate almost twice as many people as previous editions. The line-up features both favorites and surprises, with the new generation rubbing shoulders with the pioneers.
On Wednesday, the Bleu Lézard cellar will give way to Swiss Blues. The Two have been given carte blanche for a concert and a special guest: Martin Harley. The following day, the deep funk of six Englishmen from Speedometer will heat up the atmosphere at Les Docks, before making way for veteran band Cymande. On Friday, the Théâtre du Bourg will tremble to the greasy sound of a Russian organ with Great Revivers, before the New York Latinos of Boogaloo Destroyers. On Saturday, The Mighty Mocambos will kick off the evening at the Romandie, and Souljazz Orchestra will round off the series of concerts. But the festivities don't stop there: DJs will be on hand every evening.
