Ibrahim Maalouf and Wayne Shorter at Cully
The Cully Jazz Festival takes place from April 8 to 16, 2016. Headliners for the 34th edition include Ibrahim Maalouf, Wayne Shorter, Ibeyi, Kenny Garrett, Dianne Reeves, Terence Blanchard and Richard Galliano. A new addition to the Festival Off line-up is Le Club, a stage dedicated to up-and-coming artists.
From free jazz to blues, soul to funk, hip-hop to Cuban tradition, the Festival opens artistic frontiers, between discoveries and reunions, in balance. With young talents and established names in international jazz.
On the Swiss side, Malcolm Braff's astonishing project will bring together the Sine Nomine Quartet and electronic music experimenter Cristian Vogel. Between suspended breaths and dreams of wide open spaces, the Temple organ will resound under the fingers of Zurich pianist Stefan Rusconi, accompanied by violinist Tobias Preisig.
As the first free platform dedicated to the next generation of European jazz, Le Club will welcome some of today's finest bands: Eyot, Plaistow, Sylvain Rifflet, Bänz Oster & the Rainmakers and Phronesis.
