In the midst of a very rich musical offering in French-speaking Switzerland, the Week-End Musical de Pully continues to grow and has truly found its place with the public. Highlighting artists from the region - too rarely invited by the big classical festivals - the event also gives pride of place to young musicians. Since 2013, the festival has offered three days of free concerts to an ever-growing audience.

The opening concert will bring together on stage for the first time Marie-Claude Chappuis, the famous mezzo-soprano from Fribourg, and the renowned pianist Christian Favre from Lausanne, in a program dedicated to Schumann.
On Saturday, between 2pm and 10pm, six concerts and ten families of musicians will follow one another, a first for a festival. Some, like the Stuller Quartet, play together regularly. Others, like the Macherel family, will be performing together for the first time.

Sunday will be dedicated to young audiences, with a workshop led by Alexandre Cellier, and a "battle" between classical ensembles (strings versus piano) from the region. To round things off in style, the organizers have invited Regula Mühlemann. The young soprano from Lucerne will be coming to Pully for the first time, in association with pianist Ulrich Koella, after a tour of the United States.

Youth first
Around these highlights, the Week-End Musical offers a wide variety of concerts, with many young talents to discover, as artistic director Guillaume Hersperger points out: "Unlike the big festivals, which focus exclusively on established names, we always take the risk of showcasing very young and talented musicians. Audiences expect this kind of event, where musical styles and ages mix. The idea is to offer a meeting place, open to all." For Guillaume Hersperger, it's a way of attracting a younger audience.
