The Thierry Scherz Prize is awarded for the best performance in the Young People's Series, and entitles the winner to a first CD recording. This year, the jury, comprising Renaud Capuçon, artistic director of the festival and mentor to the Young People's Series, Toshio Hosokawa, contemporary composer in residence, and Patrick Peikert, director of Claves Records, awarded the Thierry Scherz Prize to Caroline Goulding.

In the second half of 2017, this violinist will record her first CD with orchestra on the Claves Records label, which will also promote it.

The jury also rewarded 21-year-old French violinist David Petrlik and pianist Alexandre Kantorow with the CHF 5,000 André Hoffmann Prize for the best interpretation of contemporary works by maestro Toshio Hosokawa.
