A musical marathon to rediscover Sion

The result of a collaboration between the Schubertiade Sion, the Conservatoire Cantonal and the Sion Festival, the "Musique en fête" day on Saturday August 26 is transformed into a Marathon musical.

The unprecedented - and quite natural - collaboration between the protagonists has enabled us to design an original day. Budding young artists from the Conservatoire Cantonal and the Schola will rub shoulders with students from the Haute Ecole de Musique (HEMU) and established musicians throughout the day. They will offer the public the chance to discover some of the city's most unusual sites, including the Jardins de la Diète, the Salle des Cailloux, the Jardins de la Préfecture and the Place Jules Verne.

An original way to discover the old town
In keeping with the spirit of past editions of "musique en fête", this year's musical marathon will allow the public to revisit some of Sion's most emblematic sites, accompanied by musical discoveries.

The public will discover the Penitentiary, from which it will depart at 7 a.m., St-Théodule church, the Cour Jules Verne and the majestic Jardins de la Préfecture. The marathon will end at the Ferme-Asile barn (8 p.m.).

To celebrate its 10th anniversary, the Schubertiade Sion committee wanted to offer the people of Sedun its favorites. The Valais artists of Cabaret 21, the saxophone quartet Semi-breve and the duo Singer & Fischer will celebrate this anniversary.

Meet the next generation
The day will also be an opportunity to discover the work of students from the educational institutes in the canton of Sedun: the youngest with the Schola, the Campus Musicus or the Petit Orchestre du Chablais. The violin and percussion students from the Conservatoire Cantonal will play just before the Fanfaribole, who have just played at the Miles Davis Hall at Montreux Jazz with Ibrahim Maalouf. They will follow in the footsteps of their elders, fresh from graduating from the HEMU, such as the Valéik ensemble and a guitar and double bass duo. Conservatory teachers will also be in the spotlight, with the cello duo of Magdalena Morosanu and Jordan Gregoris.

After a day rich in discoveries, the evening will conclude with the Bolshoi Soloists Ensemble, pianist Olivier Cavé, Sion Festival Artistic Director Pavel Vernikov on violin and violinist Svetlana Makarova.

Please note that a "rain" route will be set up in case of uncertain weather conditions.
