Montreux Jazz also cancelled
The 2020 edition of Montreux jazz, scheduled for July 3-18, 2020, will not take place. Part of this summer's program will be carried over to the next edition, to be held from July 2 to 17, 2021.
On April 16, the Swiss Federal Council announced that it was gradually relaxing certain protective measures against the coronavirus, but it is maintaining most of the necessary hygiene and social distancing measures. As a result, it is impossible to envisage an event on the scale of the Montreux Jazz Festival in July, following the example of our colleagues at summer festivals in Switzerland and around the world. The health of the population obviously takes precedence over all other considerations.
Never in the Festival's 53-year history has an event had to be cancelled. The organizers are thinking of the staff, artists and their entourages, technicians and fitters, partners who make the event possible, hotels and businesses in the region, all Montreusians, and of course its loyal festival-goers. The festival is working on the postponement to next year of the concerts already announced - Lionel Richie and Brittany Howard on July 8, 2020, Lenny Kravitz and Black Pumas on July 13, 2020 - and will keep all ticket holders informed.
