Swiss music scene players and swiss music action merge

At the m4music Festival, the annual meetings of "Acteurs de la scène musicale Suisse" and "action swiss music" gave their blessing to the proposal of the two boards of directors: a merger.

action swiss music has been committed to the rights and interests of Swiss musicians for over 30 years, but just over a year ago they set up the association Acteurs de la scène musicale Suisse with the main aim of representing the interests of artists in view of the worrying situation regarding copyright on the Internet. These two entities are to merge. The result will be a single, stronger, well-supported association called Swiss Musicians (DE: Musikschaffende Schweiz, IT: Musicisti svizzeri, EN: Swiss Musicians), capable of effectively representing the interests of today's Swiss music in all its splendour, as well as supporting and encouraging its members in many ways in their professional activities.

The new association brings together the best of what each has to offer: on the one hand, the proactive political and public relations work of the players on the music scene, and on the other, the know-how and experience of action swiss music in the field of advice and services. The key themes of the two associations also complement each other: the music scene continues to fight against Internet piracy and for fair compensation for the digital use of works, but the services provided for members are now accompanied by advice, workshops, events and other actions. Conversely, members of the former action swiss music association can expect more external influence and political activity. In this way, we hope to be able to offer support and assistance to our members in all aspects of their professional musical lives.

Swiss Musicians is structured as an association, with a General Meeting as its supreme body, and an Executive Committee with a President and two Vice-Presidents. The Zurich branch will be headed by Luise Werlen, and Christoph Trummer will take on the position of part-time political project manager in addition to his duties as president. Christian Wicky will be Vice-President for French-speaking Switzerland. The Board of Directors comprises 16 members, representing the different national languages and the diversity of creation in the field of popular music.

A new, completely updated website will be online shortly.
