Isabelle Chassot to head OFC

Isabelle Chassot is to become the new Director of the Federal Office of Culture. The Federal Council has appointed the Fribourg native to succeed Jean-Frédéric Jauslin.

Jean-Frédéric Jauslin will take up his post as Ambassador to Unesco and La Francophonie in Paris in September. Isabelle Chassot will officially take up her post in November 2013. Acting Director Yves Fischer will take over as interim Director.

Isabelle Chassot, 48, is currently State Councillor for Education, Culture and Sport in the Canton of Fribourg, a position she has held since 2002. She has chaired the Intercantonal Conference of Directors of Public Education (CDIP) since 2006. In this capacity, she has been involved in the national dialogue on culture from the outset.

Prior to her election to the Fribourg government, Isabelle Chassot worked as a personal assistant to Federal Councillors Arnold Koller and then Ruth Metzler.

Isabelle Chassot will officially take over as head of the Federal Office of Culture on November 1, 2013. She will be involved in all strategic decisions until then.
