Danielle Nanchen new head of the Cultural Creation section

Danielle Nanchen has been appointed Head of the Cultural Creation Section at the Swiss Federal Office of Culture, effective September 1, 2013. She will succeed Franziska Burkhardt, who has held this position for 3 years.

Born in Valais and living in Zurich, Danielle Nanchen has extensive experience of the cultural world. After studying philosophy, art history and literature at the University of Lausanne, she was in charge of exhibitions at the Arteplage in Murten for Expo.02. She then assumed responsibility for a number of cultural projects, before taking over as head of Programs at the Pro Helvetia foundation. In this role, she collaborated on several occasions with the Federal Office of Culture, notably in the field of living traditions and on projects to support digital culture.

As head of the Cultural Creation section, Danielle Nanchen will be responsible in particular for developing the Confederation's cultural prizes, launched by the Federal Office of Culture in new areas since the enactment of the Federal Act on the Promotion of Culture.
