With a total prize fund of CHF 25,000 and a three-year concert placement throughout Switzerland for the winning ensembles, targeted, long-term support is offered to outstanding young chamber ensembles. The association responsible is the "Förderkreis Kammermusik Schweiz", in collaboration with the Paul Juon Society, and the competition venue is the Kunsthalle Appenzell. The jury will be announced in June. Application deadline: September 1, 2023.

According to Artistic Director Martin Lucas Staub, the organizers' declared aim is to fill the gap in the promotion of young Swiss chamber music ensembles that has arisen with the discontinuation of the Migros Chamber Music Competition, through this chamber music competition with concert placement.

Three years' concert placement and coaching in the promotion of one's own ensemble are sustainable incentives that enable winning ensembles to broaden their concert experience and increase their popularity by presenting themselves to a wide audience throughout Switzerland. This makes it considerably easier for them to embark on a successful professional career.

In addition, concert organizers receive substantial financial support from the Swiss Chamber Music Association if the winning ensembles are engaged. In this way, small and medium-sized concert organizers are encouraged to offer high-quality concerts with talented young ensembles. At the same time, the Swiss Chamber Music Association guarantees musicians an appropriate remuneration.

Entries are open to ensembles ranging from trio to sextet, which, in addition to two works of their choice, also perform a work by Swiss composer Paul Juon. By imposing a piece by Paul Juon, the competition aims to raise awareness of his great music, particularly among the younger generation of musicians. Paul Juon's extensive catalog includes works for all relevant chamber music ensembles.

The Paul Juon Chamber Music Competition is held every three years. Further information on the competition and online registration can be found at www.fkms.org
