Nicati 2023 Competition
A new, forward-looking edition.
The 10th edition of the Nicati Competition, the Swiss contemporary music competition organized by the Nicati-de Luze Foundation, took place in Lucerne from August 21 to 27. It was hosted by HSLU-Musik, partner of the event. Three categories were present: Solo and Ensemble, where candidates performed Swiss and international compositions written after 1945, and the Open Space category with creations not in conventional concert form. The Competition brought together many facets of contemporary music: instrumental and vocal pieces, musical theater, electronics, multimedia works and multidisciplinary performances.
6 ensembles, 14 soloists and 9 open space projects from all over Switzerland were selected. Over 7 days, the public was free to attend 26 concerts and 11 performances, including the finals followed by aperitifs for all.
Prizes for the finalists amount to CHF 48,000, with first prizes including the opportunity to perform in the IGNM Bern, SMC Lausanne and FNML Luzern seasons.
